2009 Ulacia Getariako Txakolina Spain

Two bottles from the list at the Harvest Vine in Seattle. Why oh why isn’t it summertime? Pop and pour. Served by the restaurant in short tumblers which resembled highball glasses. Pale straw. Nose of peach, wet stones and sweet floral aromas. The big mouth glass made smelling this a joy. Great mouthfeel with some light effervessence, racy acidity and the tiniest amount of saltiness on the finish. This was complemented by a great balance of citrus tree fruit and stone fruits.

This wine is what Kramer’s cologne “The Beach” from Seinfeld must have inspired. It made me long for the beach on this cold, rainy day.
