The 2004 Prieure Lichine is up for $29, free shipping on 6. I think this is a repeat offer also, but seems like a very good deal.

Faiveley Chambolle Musigny 75 clams - worth it?? I'm not a Burg guy so don't know anything about this wine, but I was thinking of putting a few away and seeing what happens.

2008 Fontodi Chianti Classico is up for $20. I've certainly heard of this producer, but have never tried them. Can anyone comment on the style? I really enjoy the Monsanto CCR, which seems to be a very traditional Chianti. Would the Fontodi be along the same lines, or more modern?

Here is a note on the 07 - sounds fairly traditional

The last McCrea deal was very decent. $11 for halves of 2006 McCrea Syrah Ciel du Cheval Vineyard.

Popped one of the 3 '06 Giraud "Gallimardes CdP that I picked up, it was absolutely rocking! I polished off the whole bottle last night (over 6hrs). Popped it, poured into a decanter, let sit for 2hrs and every glass was better than the last. I will certainly reload if that offer comes out again.

I have found this to walk the line between traditional and modern, and is more modern than the Monsanto. It is not, however, sleek or manipulated. For the price though, I'd prefer the monsanto.

I bit for 3, $16 and the note sounded decent enough.

Thanks Michael. I didn't bite on the Fontodi, but it's probably just as well. The Monsanto is tough to beat in that price range (and even a bit above it, IMHO).

I get that...I was merely wondering how come it was so cheap. It's $5/bottle. Sounds too good to be true.

the fact that its a 2007 rose? That's my only concern is how old they are (which in the schem of things isn't that old), but I'm worried the rose may be losing fruit and freshness?

The sancerre/rose combo is probably worth it just for the sancerre -- rose is a throw in.

I wasn't able to find any notes on the Rose. Ended up pulling the trigger based on the CT reviews for the Sancerre.

Wow, living in Marin has its privileges. Order the case of sancerre and Rose on Tuesday and it arrives on Wednesday. Excellent Service.

I don't ship wine that fast from my own winery. Looks like I have some learnin' to do.

In sticking with my resolution to try more German wines, I just pulled the trigger on 3 bottles of the 2005 Bassermann-Jordan Forster Pechstein Spätlese trocken Großes Gewächs. Can someone enlighten me as to what I just bought? CT wasn't terribly helpful this go around.

$89 still seems expensive for a split. Especially given the quality of Sauternes you can get for that price. I've never had it though. Is it worth it?

Much denser than a good Sauternes, like dessert in its own glass. Would not try to pair one of these sweet wines, best by itself IMO.

I bit on 3 and asked for a wooden box as well. Looks like no dice. Oh well.

Just another note, I opened a Reignac split from the offer a few months back. Seems like a bit of bottle variation or at least there was some shipping shock. First bottle definitely could have been suspect cooked with some pruny raisiny notes, but the last bottle I had was pretty clean. Super modern style though.
