Anyone else get one of these kits today?

Post #1  Postby Roberto Rogness » July 23rd 2012, 3:10pm

I just got what may be the most expensive looking promo kit I have ever seen, sent from the Consejo of a DO in Spain. Specially made VERY high quality hinged six pack with great graphics and embossing, 6 bottles of what could be very nice wines in individual canisters with an ongoing story of the DO printed on each successive one, a VERY high quality picture book of a coulple of hundred pages and a brochure inviting me to do a "virtual tasting" on their website.

All of this was sent by Fed Ex......

I got something similar earlier in the year (in cooler weather) for the wines of Somontano. Frankly, a waste of money/resources to be honest. I haven't had a chance to open it and when I sent them an email saying Gracias but no Gracias, they said keep it. I haven't even had a chance to try them yet.

The one I got has no indicator of distribution channels so I couldn't buy any if I wanted to.

Theoretically, it makes sense to send it to me as I import wines, but I only have one Spanish wine and am not expanding that part of the portfolio this year.
