Phil, yes, Jaffurs is in, as Dave Yates is coming down in person and donating to the auction. Jaffurs got in with both feet this year, thank you Dave. Leslie updated the link today, as we have more wines added to the garage silent auction, more folks paid. We're getting close to the target goal of 70 and after talking with a few more people today, thanks to the broad reach of Arnie Caplan, we will have possibly some more new folks attend. FWIW, there are some excellent targets for the auction and my cellar has some space so I'll be going to the mat with some of you to take down some bottles I want for my cellar. Don't mess with me, yo. That Switchback Ridge mag, she is mine! Here is the link, BTW: http://www.lesliefisher.com/lh/2012_falltacular.xlsHave a good weekend everyone.

I'm going to try to round up some of the San Diego wine gals. They will be up for volunteering, too.

Just a couple of quick notes, as I won't bug the Goldfish to update the file until tomorrow or Wednesday.
Thanks to Mr John Spartacus Holdredge, we have a 5 Liter of Mazie Rose pinot noir pledged for the silent auction. This bottle is as big as me and is something very special. It is the 2007 and the only one that was made. We owe John a generous and big thank you for sending this down for us. It may be the same size as what Robin has in her avatar above. Thank you JAH!
Thomas Brown also today put in the unreleased 09 Maybach cab, the 09 Schrader RBS and the 09 RIvers-Marie Summa OV. These will be separate lots to bid on. We also have an 09 Sea Smoke Ten donated by Zach Sherburne, along with another lot of 06 CA pinot and a mag of RIon Chambolle Les Charmes from Mr Nordhoff. The auction is picking up.
A couple more requests for those of you wanting to help. I need about a dozen empty wine boxes to help with event break down for recycling of the glass. And, if someone (or a few of you) want to bring some bottled water, we need about 12 cases. I plan to pick some up on Saturday AM but if you want to help in that fashion, I will not turn down that help.
This is truly a community event, as you can see by the support and the build out from the collective efforts of everyone to make it a success. This will be a great year and the goal is 15,000 bucks for Laura's--we are looking petty damn good.

I personally love this wine. Hope someone else loves it enough to do some damage to their wallet and help the cause. In case anyone needs to be reminded: it's for the kids.

Just a quick note out to all of you that we hit and surpassed my first target goal of 70 paid. THANK YOU.We'll now target 80, and I know we have a couple more checks in route so if we can get to the ideal goal of 80, we'll raise close to $6,000 alone at the door and then work to clear the other $9,000 in the silent auction to get to my final target for the event of $15,000. Thank you all for supporting the event, let's make it a great weekend. Before EOD Thursday, I will post final details for all of you in prep for Saturday. I still need a few more pouring volunteers and will continue thru Thursday to accept silent auction wines or items. We do have some added today, which I will have Leslie update to the link before EOD Thursday. Have a great night everyone.

No. I was judging the size of the bottle, so if that is a big mug, that bottle is ginormous! ;) ![wow [wow.gif]](./images/smilies/wow.gif)

Unfortunately Gloria and I will not be able to make the trip this year for Falltacular. This is such a great event and one of tasting schedule highlights for the year for us. We will miss seeing so many friends we have made through the years attending the event.
I am sure the food and wine will be stellar and the pre Falltacular dinner a blast as usual.
We plan on opening a great bottle of wine that day back home in honor of Frank and Jill for putting together such a worthwhile event.
Cheers,
Jim and Gloria

I got the bottle from Spartacus today--my god, it's a tower.
Jim, we will miss you and Gloria. Thanks for the nice post and the toast to us, as well. Your support of the event the past few years has helped us build a base and continue to thrive. Open some Pignan for your wife!

Wetrock, so I have to ask. Are you doing the cookies this year? You know I am not the only one thinking of this question, man. Are you doing them organic? You can give me sh#t on Saturday for this question if you like, or, now if you feel moved by the question! ![[neener.gif] neener](./images/smilies/neener.gif)

Partially. I've never attempted to make them completely organic and I'm certainly not going to experiment on that kind of volume right before the party. Is there such a thing as organic baking soda?

No: Baking soda is made entiely of the non-organic material sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3) It is closely related to limestone Baking soda is inorganic just as water is inorganic. Organic and inorganic matter need each other. We need water to survive. Organic is the definition given to a compound containing one thing: the element carbon or better said the element carbon bound to hydrogen. Inorganic compounds do not contain carbon but if they do contain it and are being classified as inorganic that's because they contain it but not bound to hydrogen like carbides, carbonates (i.e. sodium bicarbonate) and carbon oxides do. These three contain carbon but they're not organic because their carbon atom is not bound to hydrogen. Baking soda or sodium bicarbonate is found dissolved in many mineral springs (It can be classified as a salt). Read more: http://wiki.answers.com/Q/Is_baking_sod ... z1jIqgEZEZ

uh boy. I mean on the ingredients like butter, flour, etc.
OMG, what did i start? Uh, anyway. I am heading off to dinner. The broccoli I grew is organic, although we have not certified it, I can attest to how I grew it and plan to have it with dinner! I will be happy, Rock, to eat whatever cookies you bring with you on Saturday, as it is tradition for me at least to slug down 3-4 of them towards the end of the night.

Oh crap. Well, we need to find a way to move you guys about. Let's kick this around over dinner tonight and see what we can do to help. What we might be able to do is have some folks coming south tomorrow pick up some people on their way over here. Reverse the trans when folks are able to leave the event EOD. We'll figure it out, King.

I can pick up four at the BW as I am planning to sober up and drive home in the pm. I have a rental that seats five rather than my lil convertible.

Mark. Let me know if you do not find someone at the hotel. I will happily pick you up and others. I am just not 100% sure of my timing. I need to run some errands before hitting the house. My plan is to get there before noon just to play it safe. I can take people back as well, but, not sure as to my departure time yet. I have dinner plans with this annoying guy, but, he keeps asking ![wink [wink.gif]](./images/smilies/wink.gif)

Leslie, yes. Whatever you want for the grill and a side dish to share. Gang, over at the BW.....you have something cooked up for Trans already? If not, phone the house and we can come get you with some folks that may be here setting up. Sean and I came home from dinner last night and played some gin and drank some Bouvier Marsannay, I got me a little headache. ![swoon [swoon.gif]](./images/smilies/swoon.gif) We're primed already, so to speak. Cool and crisp here at the pad, we're already doing some setup. See all you set up volunteers when you arrive but the weather is perfect and the wines will have a great room temp when they are being poured today. Thank you all in advance for the overhwhelming support and for a great event for Laura's House later today. We cannot do it without all of you.
