Yesterday we were back at Maria's for Wednesday lunch for the first time since the end of July. We were joined by Sue & Dick Daniels. We got there before the Daniels and got our starters of chips, salsa, and guacamole. We ordered '400th Anniversary Margarita' for me and '100% Agave' for Carollee. The Daniels arrived. Dick ordered a Dos Equis Amber. and Sue had a '100% Agave'. Al came out and gave us several new lamb dishes to sample - a lamb burger patty, green chile lamb stew, and Taco al Pastor with ground lamb. All were tasty, even though the lamb in the patty and taco was slightly overcooked. When I had finished my Margarita, we ordered our food - I ordered a LisaBurger, since the special was a green chile chicken casserole, in which I wasn't interested. Carollee had a Tostada Compuesta. Sue had Chile Rellenos. Dick had two soft tacos with beans, but w/o rice. I then ordered a 'Sweetheart'. The food was a long time coming, so Sue had another '100% Agave', Dick had another Dos Equis, and Carollee had a 'Carmella's Fella'. When our food was eventually served, I ordered a 'Certain Smile'. It was an enjoyable, filling lunch and nice to see the Daniels after a long time.

Today we were back at Maria's for our usual Wednesday lunch, on an off and on rainy day. It was starting to sprinkle as we were getting ready to go, so we left hurridly in light sprinkles that got into heavier rain as we approached Maria's. We arrived, seated ourselves at our usual table, and were greeted by Randy and Lara, who was waiting in place of John who took the day off. We got our starters of chips, salsa, and guacamole and ordered our initial Margaritas, 'Yes, Deer' for me and '100% Agave' for Carollee.
When I had finished mine we ordered today's special, our favorite, sirloin tips and green chile. And I ordered a 'Sweetheart'. Carollee got tortillas with hers. The chile was somewhere between medium hot and hot, not as hot as last week's, but with good heat. Partway through mine I had a 'First Kiss'. It was another enjoyable day at Maria's, with our favorite lunch special, good margaritas, and off and on rain.

Today we were back at Maria's for our first lunch in a little over a month. The Jaguar accident has affected our finances significantly. We started with Carollee's usual '100% Agave' and i had a 'Santa Fe 400th Anniversary'. We also had our usual chips, salsa, and guacamole. When I had finished mine, we ordered the pulled pork taco special (one soft and one crispy) for Carollee and a 'Yes, Deer' and a LisaBurger for me. The LisaBurger took long enough for me to finish my second Margarita, so when the food was served, I ordered a 'Sweetheart'. All was as good as usual, and the regulars said they'd missed us. The 400th Anniversary glass gave us a total of eight, so now we have enough to use with company for Northern New Mexican food.

Yesterday we were back at Maria's for Wednesday lunch. We started with '100% Agave' for Carollee and 'Cheap Date' for me along with our usual chips, salsa, & guacamole. The salsa wasn't as spicy as usual; the guacamole didn't have a noticible red chile content; so the salsa & guacamole were good together for a change. When I had finished my Margarita, I ordered a LisaBurger and a 'Yes, Deer'; while Carollee ordered Carne Adovada. The daily speciaI was green chile chicken enchilada casserole, which isn't very interesting. I got my Margarita and the food was served shortly thereafter. Half way through my burger. I ordered and got a 'Sweetheart' for my third Margarita. Then we finished with sopapillas and honey. After a couple hour lunch, it was time to head for home.

Today we were back at Maria's for the first time in almost a month for lunch. Under pressure from Carollee, I decided to have only two margaritas today. So to start i had a 'Yes, Deer', while Carollee had her usual '100% Agave'. When the Margaritas were served, we ordered our food - Carollee had the small taco appetizers while I had a LisaBurger. Shortly after the food was served, I ordered my second, a 'Santa Fe Moonlight'. My LisaBurger was cooked a perfect medium-rare; my two Margaritas were both very good with the LisaBurger. We finished, talked briefly with Al Lucero, and headed for home.

Last evening we met Cabe & Allyson for dinner at Maria's; in order to get our coupons for next year and next year's pocket calendar. Carollee started with her usual '100% Agave'; while Cabe, Allyson and I all had 'Yes, Deer'. Allyson and Carollee had salt on theirs, Cabe and I did not. When we were served our Margaritas, we ordered our food. Carollee had a Tostada Compuesta, Allyson had a NY steak with onion rings & fries, Cabe had the rib dinner. When the food was delivered, Cabe and I each ordered a 'Moonlight Sonata'. The green chiles weren't very hot, but they did help the Trailmaster steak. Allyson and I each got a small dinner salad with our steaks. I had blue cheese dressing; Allyson had Ranch. Partway through my dinner I ordered 'A Certain Smile'. It was very good with the end of my steak, green chiles, and beans. Then we all shared a couple sopapillas with honey for dessert.

Yesterday we were back at Maria's for our usual Wed lunch. We started with 'Carmella's Fella' for Carollee and 'Sweetheart' for me, along with chips, salsa, and guacamole. When we were served our drinks, we ordered our meals. Carollee had the rib appetizer with blue cheese dressing on the salad. While I had pork and green chile stew. The special was an uninteresting green chile chicken enchilada casserole. Partway through my stew, I ordered a 'One More Kiss'. It was another enjoyable afternoon at Maria's.

Life is getting back to a rhythm. I just read a month's notes about your wonderful meals at Maria's.
Wow, Carollee strayed from the 100% Agave and you are being abstemious in your Margarita orders. Food and quaffs sound so fun and you enjoy the meals with so many different people from there and beyond.
We are reading, Dick! Happy New Year.

Thanks, Nancy, I have cut back because after losing over 50 lbs, and I don't have the capacity I used to have. Two Margaritas now have a similar effect to what three used to.
Today we were back at Maria's, we started with our usual chips, salsa, and guacamole, and Carollee had her usual '100% Agave', while I had a 'Yes Deer'. When the drinks were served, we ordered our food, Carollee had a Stuffed Cheddar Burger, while I had today's special, my favorite, Sirloin Tips w/Green Chile. The green chile was good, but not as hot as before. When the food was served, I ordered my second - a 'One More Kiss'. Both Margaritas were good with the green chiles.
When we were finished, we went back to the office for a short conversation with Laurie and Al, mostly about their upcoming Super Bowl Party on Sunday. Then we headed for home.
Another lovely afternoon at Maria's.

Nice, Dick. The sirloin tips with green chile would be good about now since I haven't had dinner! Who can have enough guacamole. All good. Congrats on losing 50+ pounds. I don't know where you hid it! Tell us how you lost it! ![worship [worship.gif]](./images/smilies/worship.gif)

I lost the weight mostly from my thighs and waist and belly. I did it mainly by cutting back on food. From three to two chocolate chip cookies for breakfast; from 10-12 oz of milk to 8oz or so with the cookies; generally taking smaller portions at dinner; and not going out to eat as often.

Today we were back at Maria's for our semi-regular Wednesday lunch. We started with our accoustomed chips, salsa, and guacamole and Carollee's usual '100% Agave' with salt and a 'Yes, Deer' for me. When the Margaritas were served we ordered our food - Taco Plate, one soft, one hard, for Carollee and the Sirloin Tips w/Green Chile for me. My first Margarita lasted through the first half of the the stew. I then ordered a 'Sweetheart'. The green chiles were slightly hotter than last time, so the Margaritas matched well. When we were both finished, we shared a sopapilla filled with honey. We didn't get a chance to talk with Laurie or Al, so we headed for home.

This afternoon we had another delightful lunch at Maria's. We arrived shortly after 1pm, were seated at our usual table, got or chips, guacamole, & salsa, ordered our Margaritas - Carollee's usual '100% Agave', while I started with a 'Yes, Deer'. When the Margaritas were served, we ordered our lunch. We each had the daily special, a red chile and pork stew (our next to favorite special). It was nice and spicy, with good sauce and meat. Partway through mine I ordered a 'Sweetheart'. It came late enough, that I still had some margarita left after finishing the stew. We ordered a couple Sopapillas to have with honey as a dessert. They were very hot on being served, perfect. The honey coated the interior of the sopapilla and was very nice with end of our Margaritas. We went to the office, had a short conversation with Laurie & Al, and then headed for home.

Partway through our margaritas we ordered our lunch, a bowl each of the special - red chile & pork stew. The stew was nice and hot, with rich red chiles and tender pork. A little ways into the stew I ordered a 'Certain Smile'. it was very good to finish the stew, and necessary. Laurie and Al came to our table partway through and told us they had our Miguel Aceves Meija CDs in the office. So when we were finished. we went to the the office had a short conversation with Laurie and Al and got our CDs. Then we headed for home.

The guacamole was very spicy, so needed the Margaritas. When I had nearly finished my Margarita., I ordered a "Certain Smile'. We also ordered our food. Carollee had the quesadillas; while I had the special - chicken fried steak with green chile mashed potatoes and corn with green chiles. Laurie and Al were not there, they were down in Las Cruces. So we left the Ojai Pixie Tangerines we had taken in with us with Bernie the Bartender to give to them when they return today. Then we headed for home.

Those pork tacos sound pretty good! Do you think the guacamole was spicier when Laurie and Al were not there?
It is great to have a favorite place to eat on a regular basis. Life is good!

Last week the guacamole was pretty spicy, but I think it had more to do with the chiles than whether or not the Luceros were there. The tacos are quite good; I just don't very often eat tacos; and I hadn't had a LisaBurger for a while.

Today we were back at Maria's for lunch. We started with our usual chips, salsa, and guacamole and water. I ordered a new Margarita, a 'Macho Cowboy', made with El Charro Reposado and Triple Sec. Carollee started with her usual '100% Agave'. Carollee was having a problem deciding on her meal. I ordered the special, my favorite, sirloin tips with green chiles; while Carollee decided on the enchilada plate with beef. When mine was served, I ordered a 'Bullseye', La Leyenda de 30-30 Reposado and Triple Sec. They haven't had this one for a while, but it's back, and enjoyable. Another good day at Maria's.

Yesterday Cabe Martinez called to see if we were going to Maria's. They had gotten back from three weeks in France and Spain at 2:30 yesterday morning. We had planned on having lunch at Shibumi Ramenya, but agreed to meet them at Maria's at our usual time. We arrived at 1pm, got our usual chips, salsa, guacamole, and water. We also ordered our Margaritas - Carollee had her usual '100% Agave'; while i had a 'Macho Cowboy'. It was a good thing we ordered and got our Margaritas, since Allyson and Cabe didn't arrive until 1:30. Cabe and Allyson started with a 'Grand Treasure' - El Tesoro Añejo and Grand Marnier, Allyson's with salt, Cabe's without. After a bit we ordered our food - Cabe and Carollee had the daily special - pulled pork tacos, one soft and one hard; while Allyson had chicken and green chile stew and I had pork and green chile stew. Partway through our food, Cabe had 'Grand Gold' - Cuervo Gold tequila and Grand Marnier; while I had a 'Bullseye'. When Allyson had finished hers, she had a couple sips of Cabe's. After hearing about their trip and all the great food they ate, we had finished our Margaritas and food, so it was time to go. We went back to the office and had a short conversation with Laurie and Al. Then we headed for home.

Today we were back at Maria's for the first time in almost three months. We were met by Sue and Dick Daniels. Sue started with a frozen Margarita, Dick had a Dos Equis, Carollee had a 'House Tradition' the new name for her '100% Agave', while I had a new Margarita, "Houser Masterpiece', Cien Años Reposado and Triple Sec. Shortly we ordered our food - Carollee, Sue, and I each had a LisaBurger; Dick had a couple pork tacos with beans. Then Sue had a 'House Tradition', Dick had a couple more Dos Equis, while I had a new Margarita, 'Dark Moon' - Luna Malvado Reposado and Cointreau. It was quite good with the LisaBurger. Al came out and talked to us briefly, after we had gotten our checks. Then we all headed for home.

Today we were back at Maria's, this time in two weeks. We started with 'House Tradition' for Carollee, and a 'Houser Masterpiece' for me. When we got our Margaritas we ordered our food - Carollee had the mini-tostada appetizer with beef, while I had green chile and pork stew. After a bit I had a 'Macho Cowboy' to finish. Al and Laurie were at a table in the main dining room with a friend. I stopped and talked with them briefly on my way back from the restroom; Carollee waved to them as we were leaving after paying the check.

We were at Maria's with Sue and Dick Daniels today. We stated with 'House Tradition' (with salt) for Sue, a Dos Equis for Dick, a 'Carmella's Fella' for Carollee, and a 'Houser Masterpiece' for me. They were all enjoyable with our openers of guacamole, chips, and salsa. Then we ordered or meals - Sue had a Stuffed Cheddar Burger - rare; Dick had two soft pork tacos with just beans, while Carollee and I had the daily special, sirloin tips with green chile. As the meals were served I ordered a 'Sweetheart' and Dick ordered another Dos Equis. When our drinks were served Sue ordered another Margarita. Al Lucero stopped by the table early to say hello and have a brief conversation. Part way through our meals Dick ordered another Dos Equis. When I was finished I went to the Men's Room, while Carollee went to say goodbye to Laurie and Al. We paid our bills and then left for home.
