Re: Favorite Wine Books - ITB & GeneralJim,
Your favorites, not ALL of them. +1 on Knowing and Making Wine & Grapes into Wine. 2 I have enjoyed. Also, Wines, Their Sensory Evaluation. Not so much fun, but good info about tasting and drawing conclusions from it. Thanks. Keep em coming.

Re: Favorite Wine Books - ITB & GeneralThis was my textbook in school. Gives the science behind the wine, but also a lab section on what to do about it.

Sorry. Apparently, my snide sense of humor works even less well here than in person. Andrew Morris

Re: Favorite Wine Books - ITB & GeneralHandbook of Enology by Ribereau-Gayon, et al. has turned out to be the most valuable texts on my shelf. Vol. 1 is The Microbiology of Wine and Vinifications and Vol.2 is The Chemistry of Wine Stabilization and Treatments. On the other hand, I virtually never crack the Zoecklein book anymore.

Re: Favorite Wine Books - ITB & GeneralFlorida Jim, our wine libraries are a lot alike.
To Jim's excellent list I would add: Vineyard Tales: Reflections on Wine, a collection of 29 essays by Gerald Asher. One essay alone, "Remembrance of Wines Past," is worth the price of the book.
Re: Favorite Wine Books - ITB & General
+1 on Wine and War; fascinating read.
Re: Favorite Wine Books - ITB & GeneralThe History and Mystery of Zinfandel is a fun read.
For soil related interests, I think Teaming with Microbes by Elaine Ingham is a must read for any farmer. Cabot Vineyards

Re: Favorite Wine Books - ITB & GeneralAdventures on the Wine Route: A Wine Buyer's Tour of France (Kermit Lynch, ISBN: 978-0374522667). Just a lovely set of stories about the people and lifestyle behind the wines.
Dang Rick, I think that's right

Re: Favorite Wine Books - ITB & GeneralI'm late with this post but a book that I'm currently reading is up high on my list. Reading Between the Wines by Terry Theise. Connects farmers with their wines and their wines with our soul.
Re: Favorite Wine Books - ITB & GeneralAnything by Charles Sullivan.
The Gerald Asher book mentioned above. Darlington's "Zin." Heimoff's "A Wine Journey Along the Russian River." The last one played a part in me moving to Healdsburg (albeit temporarily).
