Oregon got the shaft on Pappy this year and didn't receive hardly anything. Since it's state controlled, you have to get it through the liquor stores. Fortunately my father in law owns the biggest and his buddy owns one of the top volume sellers in Oregon, they all got nothing. Fortunately I stocked up last year and dear old Knightsbridge came through on the 20. Oregon also got very little Stagg, Thomas Handy and Weller, this year. Luckily a few bottles last forever. Viva la Pappy!

Buy all the eagle rare 17 you can get your hands on. Once the fall 2010 bottling is gone you wont see it till this time next year.

got myself a few to hopefully carry me till the next release.

"Rich" has nothing to do with it. If you love great Bourbon, Eagle Rare 17 is released once per year, so you should pick up a year's supply while you can. We do the same thing with wine, no?

Plus, I buy a few bottles of Pappy 15 every year. I drink less than 1, but my friends and family are quite happy drinking the rest!

Hoping 3 bottles of eagle rare 17 lasts me till next fall but I have my doubts.

Any reasoning about the 17 running out?

My guess is the limited production/distribution and the fact that it is only released once a year.

Hmm, a retailer near me has 10% off coupons all the time, and the 15, 20 and 25 year old are $55, $100, and $200 respectively. With the 10% off, that seems to make them very competitive. I might have to go try the 15 and 20 year old.

It's Zipp's liquor, if anybody cares, and they are usually not price competitive.

Pappy doesn't make a 25yr so I think you are referring to the 23yr.

Those prices are great, probably the low for retail these days. 10% off makes them even better!

Based on this thread, I picked up a bottle of the Eagle Rare 17-yr today at Marty's for $75. Tried a glass tonight and it's quite good, but for my palate not quite at the level of the Pappy 20. Pappy seems to have more weight and be a bit more lush, if that makes any sense.

It makes sense and I agree with you. I would even go as far to say that I almost get a slight confectionery note with the pappy 20, probably due to the age and sitting in barrel for so long. Pappy 20 seems to have more weight and viscosity.

For my tastes I am not sure I could pick a fav between the two as they are both so good.

Hey Tyler, if you haven't tried it, get a bottle of the Old Bardstown Estate 101 proof. It's ~$25 at Total and ~$28 at Bevmo. It's excellent and an unbelievable value.

There was a small release of Pappy 20/15 this week. I missed it by a day at a few shops and am essentialy out of luck but you should look for it in your local shops, particularly those without websites... If you get a spare, I am a buyer up to $150

Seems late for the Spring release, as most people in the South got their's about two months ago. But any Pappy is good Pappy.

There is a new release coming soon, no? If anyone has a lead, please post here as it would appear it has gone from elusive to nearly extinct. And I'm not looking to pay >$200 for the 20 year.

stock up when you can find it!

I found a stash at bevmo $60 for the 15yr and $99 for the 20yr; grabbed a couple bottles of each. A new eagle rare 17yr should also be coming out shortly.

I forgot about the Eagle Rare -- I picked one of those up last year too. I hope this doesn't become my bitter Bordeaux rant - I used to be able to buy 1st's (Pappy) for XX, now I have to buy Eagle Rare!

Yes -- if I find any, I'm clearing them out. I need some 15 to keep me out of the 20. Haven't found the 23 to be worth it.

I actually prefer the 15 slightly to the 20. The latter is more perfect and round, but I like the edginess of the 15.

Do you remember approximately when the Antique Collection comes out from Buffalo Trace Dist.? I picked up some of last year's Eagle Rare 17 and W.L. Weller, but I can't for the life of me remember roughly when that was last Fall.

Everything is bottled in September of every year IIRC, so you should start to see stuff hit retail in Oct/Nov.

Pappy products will not be released or available in Chicago anytime in October. Also It is my understanding that they will not be available anywhere intill late October at the earliest. Most will get the release on or about November.
