1982 Bordeaux Retrospective NYC Wed Aug 1st

Post #1  Postby Mike Reff » November 16th 2011, 9:08pm

Figured I would throw out an event to celebrate the 30 years of the infamous 1982 vintage from Bordeaux. Any interest for an offline sometime in 2012 in either Westchester or NYC??

Thanks for the idea Mike, I just sent out an email to my tasting group that when it's my turn in 2012 we're doing 82 bdx's.

BTW, if you do this in June count me in.

How do people think about various flights based on region??? I figure we also cap it off at a certain number as well. We have done dinners similar to these and the cap has been around 11 or 12 people. There is plenty of wine to go around. I just do not want to turn this into a complete beserkerfest, unless of course, the masses want it to be...

we might be able to do more than one table, it all depends on the venue as well. I can organize, and we can keep it like a berzerkerfest, but not that large with people.

As submitted on other sites, I'm in for a NYC meeting. I'd vote for PDH to keep the price down for those who have to source a bottle. Also I'd prefer capping it at twelve. And the sooner the better!

Mike, if you're keeping a list I would like to participate. After your Bordeaux group cleaned out us CLONYC guys, I have steadily shifted my attention across the Atlantic. A night of '82 retrospectives should be fantastic.

After reading the TNs for the Chicago tasting, I would love to be a part of this NYC dinner if there is still space available. I have a couple of 82s in the cellar as it is my daughter's birth year and could also source some if needed.

It's going to be hard for a lot of people, as it's the time when the UGC is in town, and there are a lot of wine dinners.

I had figured that the day might make an interesting pair of bookends: 1982 cougars on one end and 2009 cherubs on the other. [stirthepothal.gif]
