The cork on my oxidated bottle looked very much like that one. The cork on the other (good) one I opened had some wine on the sides of the cork, but none that got all the way to the top (and the capsule spun easily as I mentioned earlier). If I get a chance I'll post pictures of both.

In the mean time, any thoughts on the 2004 Maculan Crosara? I've never heard of the wine or producer, but it sounds intriguing.

The 05s were solid if not particularly stunning.

That's how I felt about the 04 splits that I bought from Last Bottle. Solid, really smooth, but not exceptionally complex or interesting. A nice wine though.

Yeah these were splits also from lastbottle.com. I bought them because decent splits are hard to find around here and we don't always want a 750

I opened mine, and it was delicious. One of the best deals this year, imho. Still young, but I couldn't help myself and drank my other as well. Wish I could get more.

I've opened one of them. Really liked it. Still young? Mine was bricking or is that a characteristic of Nebbiolo?

I'm pretty new to Nebbiolo, so I could be wrong. There were still some pretty strong tannins and good acidity, it seemed to me. Maybe that's just how it is though.

2006 Philippe & Vincent Jaboulet Crozes-Hermitage Nouvelère is being offered now. From looking at CellarTracker a ton of people bought it previously from Garagiste. Pretty decent notes so far. Tempting...

You'll see things pop up more than once. They time out their offerings to keep it fresh so if something doesn't sell out first crack it comes back again. sometimes within a week.

Bottled under screw cap. Don't see that often for Napa Cabs.

Tempting. Though according to wine-searcher.com, best web w/o shipping is $31.99. Not sure where they got $68.

I'm willing to bet that the screwcap costs them 'points' in CT among the users.

+1. I was thinking the same thing when I saw that screw cap. Was thinking it may have cost points on the pro reviews too.

What about the Beerenauslese today? Hard to find any notes on Valckenberg. Read one that thought it was a deal for $35 but otherwise cannot find any input.
