Re: Santa Barbara/Buellton/Solvang area wineries to visit

I'm working Tue-Fri in Santa Barbara next week. Flying in around noon on Monday so I'm planning to get a couple of tastings in the afternoon. What's the one spot in Los Olivos I shouldn't miss (beside Tercero)? It's been over 10 years since I've been in the area and I'm feeling somewhat nostalgic s...

Re: TNR: NV Matthiasson Village Cabernet Lot 1

I enjoyed several bottles over the last few months. I find it be a fruitier, leaner and fresher expression when compared to the regular Napa Cabernet. I’m not the best at writing tasting notes. . . You just did. And it was much more useful than saying that one had nuances of cast iron pan, or had d...

TNR: NV Matthiasson Village Cabernet Lot 1

Just curious if anyone has tried this, I guess it's a blend of two vintages of cab that didn't make the final cut for the regular Napa Cab. Normally I'd never consider an NV Cabernet but I do like Matthiasson wines.

Any intel would be appreciated!

TN: 2002 Dom Perignon

After the Patriots lost to the Titans, I needed to celebrate as a Steelers fan suffering behind enemy lines. I purchased a case on release at Costco and this was my last bottle. Not a bad wine, but certainly not worth the $115-120 I paid. Very foursquare with no overt flaws, but really didn't stand ...

Are you sure you want to drink Cristal (or any Champagne) out of a flute, regardless of the quality of the glass?
It's going to be a gift. And from the picture it doesn't look like a typical flute that is narrow.

You can't have just the Pinot, unless you split it with someone else - was sold as 3-pack (2 Chardonnay, 1 Pinot) or 6-pack (4 Chardonnay, 2 Pinot)

Damn this is great juice. Thanks for the note which I largely agree with!

Reminds me of a slightly less stern and structured Mayacamas Cabernet. Just a hint of green bell pepper if you really want to critique it but this is one of the best $50ish Cali Cabernets I’ve ever tasted.
