Been reading Kevin's tasting notes for a long time, but only recently purchased wine from him. He's quick to respond, insightful about wine (as you might expect), freely shares information, and despite being on the other coast, I received my wine in less than week.

Easy recommendation.

Love how they named their random wine sets.

It's readily available in Cali. Tastes disgusting (my friends call it jet fuel). Besides the status symbol, there's really no allure.

The silver label, Moutai Pure Joy, is shockingly good though. Aromatic and fruity, reminds me of a sweet Riesling at times.

Still haven't purchased wine, but I did buy a 3L RR Supplication over the weekend. Tried to argue it was beer, not wine. Different themes, different reasons to buy. Was told I'm full of excuses. Lol

They are my favorite retailer. If you go in person they have quite a bit of wine that is mailing list only and restaurant only that is very hard to find online. As mentioned before, its a warehouse type building and is very cool in there year round. Fantastic selection, especially with hard to find...

I view CT like I do Yelp— it can be nice to read opinions from the masses, but I really only care about reviews from a trusted few. Everything else is like market research.

If I gave more weight to general scores, my whole cellar would be filled with Sauternes and modern Napa.

The online releases last for days now, I get more Monkish now than ever before, granted they'll never be shelf beers but they are really easy to get if you have a couple minutes to order on line. Agree with Chang man and Craig. You'd be wise to focus on backfilling. Weaker vintages can really surprise you. Don't buy anything on release unless it's an absolute steal. Oh, and don't buy modern, glossy wines-- they're a waste of money, that's for the Napa folks
