Re: Bedrock Wine Co. Spring 2020 Release Save The Date

Love Desire Lines Riesling - one of the top domestic I've enjoyed. Thanks, Cody. Also, congrats to Morgan, Chris, and Cody on the 2018 wines. Don't need AG's reviews to know that I will like them but seems like he thought you did ok....ahem...with a dozen wines at 95+. Look forward to opening them u...

Re: Finishing off a Passive Wine Cellar

Welcome to the community, Stephen! I did my passive cellar 18 months ago in the Chicago area. Followed a lot of advice from here and Gold's book. Cellar position is similar to yours in that part sits below grade near a front porch of concrete. Spray foamed ceiling and all walls to make the floor th...

Bill - thanks for participating. Found you here last year at BD9 and Paetra was my top priority purchase this year. Just love your wines. I just added a 2014 6 pack to my earlier purchase of 2017 6 pack. Wanted to flag so that you can ship them together. Thanks!

Re: 10 years of Wine Berserkers--what does it mean to you?

Have been an active lurker for 3 years and can't think of any other site/resource that has more influenced my still young but quickly growing appreciation of wine. I have probably been too reserved in posting and outreach to experience the benefits of relationships that others cite...but, perhaps th...

2017 Beaujolais

As the 2017 cru Beaujolais are showing up in email offers and on shelves, anyone have observations on specific wines and/or the vintage you can share? I am drinking 2014 right now and enjoying the freshness of that vintage (particularly Lapierre and Thivin). Curious about this most recent one so I c...

Good wine shops, South/West burbs Chicago

+1 for The Chicago Wine Company. They are in Wood Dale, a bit off 290 near O'Hare. Need to pre-arrange pickup if you end up buying something as they are not a traditional retail shop.

Bedrock 2016 - congrats

Was just browsing Vinous and saw that AG's review of Bedrock's 2016s were up. Wow...don't know that I have seen a single year, broad ranging portfolio with such high praise & scores: 10x - 95-97 pts 10x - 92-94 And, at prices that allow folks like me to enjoy. Been around the board enough to issue s...

Taylors 325 anniversary port?

Add me to the list of the underwhelmed. I concluded this was a marketer's brainstorm - take extra juice, throw it in a cool package, and sell for a premium relative to the actual quality of the product. If that was the goal, it worked...I fell for it. Unless you are particularly attached to intersti...

I bought it from Winecellarinnovations.com. Pretty sure they don't make it but they were helpful and price-matched when I found nearly identical racking elsewhere.

Good luck with your cellar. I had a company come out and quote me 40K for a 15' x 12 room. Thanks, Tony. My all in cost for the 960 bottles was $5400. Racking was largest portion at about $3k. But, mine is a much smaller space (5' X 9') than you are talking about. And, that doesn't account for the ...

Finished the project. Kept the full ceiling height (104"). Ended up spray-foaming all walls and ceiling. Used ceramic tile on floor with no insulation - hoping for the temp to get down to 58-60 as colder weather is finally arriving. But, it's dropping slowly given all the thermal mass of wine which ...

Wanted to tap into the expertise of others as I am planning a small passive cellar build (in Chicago area).
