Shafer 2020

Dear Shafer friend, After 40 years in the wine business, we’ve gotten used to the fact that Mother Nature throws down some challenges. This year it wasn’t rain, heat, cold, insects or any of the usual issues. It was fire and smoke. As you may know many of our neighbors in the northern part of the Va...

SQN isn't holding its value on the secondary market. So buy it to drink; not to flip.

Headed to Napa tomorrow for Anniversary weekend...

I’ve heard Two Birds One Stone is quite over-rated. Hope you find it to your satisfaction. BEST Meal we have had in Napa in years.... While deciding on where to eat one evening I asked some locals about 2B1S and was told to avoid it. Different strokes I guess. Free corkage for Napa or Sonoma wines....

Recs for winery visits in Santa Cruz Mtns in March?

Big Basin has a tasting room in Saratoga. Note that SCM wineries can be relatively distant from each other. The mountain roads are curvy and narrow, and drive times can be deceiving. Also, these same roads, which are dicey on a clear head, can become treacherous after a tasting. Second Big Basin
