While I love a lot of Tegan's stuff this one was just okay for me. We power drink rose around here during the summer and while it's an absolutely a solid bottle of wine, in the end it was just a rose. I much preferred the The Withers, Matthiasson and Liquid Farm. YMMV. That said we also recently pop...

Chilling: CA winery fined, forced out of business for using volunteers.

So freaking ridiculous.

Now I get arguments of parity between other for-profits that pay traditional employees and what not but the state really needs to get a warning system in place so they could have made a change and not get hit with t a fine. That is really egregious on the part of the state.

Alan, I'd try to look at some Italian Merlots. Honestly, it is an underrepresented varietal that they do really well (think Masseto as an overpriced benchmark) and would probably align with your palate better. Most people go for the big B wines or Sangiovese or Cab based Super Tuscans and there is r...

Pinot Noir and fish is wearing me out. Other red suggestions?

Rather than approach this as a Wine berserker and think of the wine first, I recommend thinking as a foodie first. The biggest problem with fish and wine pairing is that a wine heavy in tannins will not mesh well with moist and fatty texture of the fish and further make the flavanoid compounds you ...
