Re: Make Wine.... Then Tell Lies....

Honestly, the proof is in the drinking. I have fallen for a couple of these introductory offers (can’t remember it if it was from them or some other similar company), figuring that the wine would at least be serviceable as a daily drinker. In other words, what do you have to lose for six or seven bu...

A gracious and thoughtful article from Mike, whose feature column has apparently fallen victim to the economic realities of modern journalism. I certainly hope he’ll pop up somewhere soon.

If you’re not set on needing to have glass, the GoVino are nice and unbreakable. However, they can get scratched with abrasive cleaners/sponges, and will deform in the dishwasher.

Larry, I certainly respect your read of this.
My take was that i’m pretty sure I can figure out what way works best for me. A general statement such as, “we recommend decanting” or some such thing would be fine. However, this overly precise letter comes through as rather pedantic to me.

Many of these deals aren’t advertised. Often they’re happenstance situations, such as a distributor unloading excess wine to get it off their hands.

Wow, lots of interesting angles in these responses. Mr. Williams gets at the core idea I had with the OP. Payment services make it really easy to spend money, and I think consumers will take the path of least resistance/greatest convenience, whether that's Apple Pay, PayPal, Venmo, whatever.

Why don't more wineries use PayPal or other payment systems?

On Berserker Day, I did something I don't usually do: purchase from multiple producers in one day. This got me thinking, as each buying process was somewhat different, with little uniformity between ordering platforms. Of note, one winery used PayPal, while the others use their own ordering process ...
