They are not my style..Way too big and ripe for me. BUT my sister inlaw, my friends wife, and several other friends love them. Spectrum Wine auctions almost always have a case for about $300.

The condition of the wax would not bother me. The condition of the cork, if there are signs of leaking, low fill, would be of concern. My guess is that the bottle is fine. If you pull the cork to taste you may be able to put it back in upside down. If not, you can use several layer of plastic wrap. ...

I have had the 2008 two months ago. A very one note wine. Simple, no interesting notes to taste. There was no nose. This seemed like a $20 -$30 bordeaux. I will not buy again.

There is gunk floating around in the wine. Stand the bottle up for a few days and the gunk will fall to the bottom. Then you can drink the wine from the top without the gunk.

Purely Domestic Wine Report. A full page write up on each winery each vintage. He tends to score very high. His detail in the write ups is much more accurate than his higher scores.

I am happy to hear you had a "mild" case and are on the mend. Who wants to smell a lot of old grape juice. Some of that grape stuff smells like horse sh**t. Water is so much better and has no smell.

I have had several bottles of 1967 Close de Beze, and 1979 Volnay. They were a bit simple and seemed young (refreshed ???). The 1967 Beze was very good but not great, a one note wine. Lacking in complexity or spice.

I think that if a bottle has TCA and at least 3/4 of the bottle is brought in to the store, and all agree the problem is TCA, a refund should be made. I do not think you can call and ask for the refund without bring the bottle in to the store. The age or price is not relevant.

I store at The Wine Locker in Van Nuys. 24 case locker for $300 a year. Temperature and humidity controlled. Wine shipments are accepted for you. Many wine tasting and sharing events. Great fellowship

I had a bottle of the 01 and it was a simple wine. A bit thin, even for a burgundy. No mid palate. A very short finish. No complexity. Not very expensive, but not worth the price.

I just had an 1984 Mount Eden cab. This was singing. Very complex nose that changed many times over time. Leather, lead pencil, plum. Finish was long and very Bordeaux like. This was from a magnum. I am lucky to have one left.

In my experience very large format bottles very often have seepage. Sound like the bottle was well stored. My guess is the wine is going to be fine. It will need some airtime.
