Yes, I drink Diamond Creek as often as I can and there isn't any reason to seek out the Lake, IMO. It's about scarcity, hence a higher tariff.

I don't buy them, as I live in the Bay Area, they have become very expensive, and there is a lot of competition now. I just don't need them.

Of all the things to go after him, I'd not pick those bloody ovals. I don't like them and they do warm the wine IMO. Red wine is best at room temp (that is, British rooms of old), and not everyone drinks a glass of wine in a short period of time. He does miss the au courant use of stemware for Champ...

I read this today as well, though I don't know that the article's title quite matches the text. There were many wines which showed really well. I'd also add that I don't know that it's possible to extrapolate anything from just a few wineries output.

I'm all for experimenting with varieties in California. But other than Wine Spectator's number 1~Rioja Imperial Gran Reserva 2004, these wines are incredible buys.
In fact, the Rioja Imperial Gran Reserva 2001 is every bit as good and you can still pick up a magnum for $126.00.

1975 Cuvaison Cabernet Sauvignon with Philip Togni's signature on the side of the label, and the back label that reads, "Grapes from vineyards at the summit of Spring Mountain, St. Helena." This wine was the last Cuvaison made by Philip Togni. Bear in mind that there was a 1975 Cuvaison Napa Valley.

Absolutely no cachet here but I find Charlie Olken's Connoisseurs Guide to California Wine an excellent print or online resource.
They do accept samples though they also buy wine off the shelf; they never taste at wineries, and all wines are tasted blind. At it for
35 years now. Oh, I'm not a shill.

This is a variety that I don't like. They tend to have a chalky piece on the palate; true, seemingly they can age forever but I don't see any complexity after aging them.
Which reminds me that I have some to sell.
