Re: TN: 2009 Scholium Project Naucratis Lost Slough Vineyard

I've tried this from bottle and tank...keep in mind this was really only just bottled, so give it a few weeks; should come around nicely and be a really fun short-term drinker. Of note, Abe made a huge (for him) quantity of this one, so availability is not an issue. Tim, what other Scholium bottling...

Make sure to look at the "followers". Truly priceless. Looks like it should come with a warning label: "May cause unwanted facial hair, extreme sensitivity to light, and inability to focus a camera." Judging from the photos, I'm guessing their second label might be called "Clos de Douchebag".

Decant vs double decant?

I am wondering if anyone has preferences between these two techniques (by decant I mean just pouring the wine straight to decanter, and by double-decant I mean into a container then right back into the bottle). Do you prefer one over the other, and why? Or do you use one in some circumstances but th...

Robert, sorry you didn't make it; would've enjoyed meeting you. The Rhododactylos was a nice wine, definitely with that Scholium ripeness factor, but still with ample acidity. A few points: 1. If you spend more than $30 on a decanter, you are smoking crack. 2. Any old container made of nonreactive materials can be a decanter. Find a nice flower vase you have laying around the house. Nobody will know it's not a cutting-edge art deco decanter. 3. Give some thought to "doubl...

Why should you "never" put a bottle of wine in the freezer (i.e. a cold place) to get it cold? How else would you get it colder? I guess if you forgot about it, too bad, but thet's about it. Putting a cold glass in the microwave for a few seconds? Equally innocuous.
