TN: 2012 Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey Rully Cailloux

  • 2012 Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey Rully Cailloux - France, Burgundy, Côte Chalonnaise, Rully (6/15/2014)
Chilled approximately 30 minutes. Initially the nose shows sulfides in the form of rubber tire, red apple, pears, and chalky notes. On the palate it’s still somewhat distracting with the sulfide issue, but manages to show some brilliant green apple and stony minerality. Tertiary flavors of quince and peach also show up, along with a touch of river rock. Still, very underwhelming given the producer and pedigree. (83 pts.)

I liked this wine a lot more than you did, the six years sideways did the wine a service.

Light & fine, but powerful. All the match/reduction is gone now. Stone fruits & pinch of lemon now too.

Not going to change your life but it’s very good Chardonnay.

Sounds like I need to try some of mine. Haven’t even started on the 11s yet though.

I did not have the 2012 Rully Cailloux, but all other 2012s I tried from PYCM ended up with significantly higher scores than yours. I hope your other bottles prove to be more pleasing!
