It's The Simple Things That Bring Me Joy...

…! To hit a bucket of balls at the range with Zeppelin playing in the background and the ball flies at the target–that brings me joy.

The Wind Gap box arrives with GSO today and I feel the 2012 syrah joy.

And, I buy yet more champagne today. From having just 2 bottles at the beginning of the year and ending with close to 4 cases, a mix of Rose, BdB, mostly low dosage stuff that thrills with acid and sheer pleasure, that brings me joy. champagne.gif

We need to share more joy amongst each other. PS–don’t post any stupid replies here and ruin my joy. There are enough threads on the board where you can piss on someone else’s day. Leave mine alone.

What’s your joy today?

Cheers Frank! I love that you’re into Champagne. That is a wine that should bring joy!

My joy today? Drinking a 2001 Meynieu, a 2000 Fontalloro and a bottle of RWC Madeira with friends who truly enjoy wine but don’t give two shits about cost or reputation and having a great night with quite enjoyable wine, even if it’s not marquee stuff per se. Love it.

Dinner with our best friends tonight with crappy wine and our kids 2.5yo - 8 weeks old tearing the house apart. It was awesome.

Kyle: our 6 week old was similarly crying throughout the evening. Barely hear the screams of neglect as the night goes on… Just kidding.

Love the champagne Frank and our youngest daughter is back from college for a short stay that brings me joy!

Joy is getting drunk with friends

Wine, various including bedrock heritage

Whiskies including stagg

11.30 and i get a call to go to casino !!!

Life is sometimes simple

Scratching my son’s back while he fell asleep, and the hug he gave me before I left his room.

Also, seeing Dominic in your Avatar made me smile…what a handsome young man!

My joy today was coming home from a 13-hour day away from home and seeing my wife and kids. And being able to help a friend with a challenge during the day. And now sipping on a 2009 Ridge Klein Cabernet. It can age longer but that is for the other bottles. Great topic starter, Frank!

BTW, which Zeppelin songs were playing on the range?

Thanks,
Ed

May sound geeky, Frank, but today I had the joy of finishing a contract that I have been working on procuring and negotiating for the past nine months, and worked 14 days straight in drafting, finishing at 4:59 PM Friday. And a new deal came in right on time. As did several cases of new wine! I’m up early to go cycling, something I’ve been light on these past two weeks, then gotta pop something good for the evening.

Cheers!

Visiting with some of our best friends in Nashville who we helped along on their wine journey and having 2 of our favorite wines from our past Napa trip- 05 Bressler St Helena Cab and 09 Drinkward Peschon. The wines were singing, the fire was burning bright and we capped off the night with 23 yr Pappy. Spending as much time as possible with those that mean the most to us are what bring me joy.

Off to catch a plane back home to see our kids and then tonight a birthday dinner for good friends back in Tampa. Great thread Frank.

Cheers

Five board members got together in Columbus last night. In true Berserker fashion, more than 20 bottles were opened. It was a joyous evening.

This thread is a nice reminder to be mindful of joy as there are so many opportunities to see it, if we are mindful.
Joy is seeing the picture of Noah’s child, and being reminded of my own children when they were newborns. Congratulations Noah.
Joy is visiting with a friend last night that I had not seen in many years, and sharing a bottle of 2012 Kutch Sonoma Coast Pinot Noir that had just arrived that day, and then later a 2012 Quivet Kenefick Cabernet. Both were delicious and enjoyable wines and were all the more enjoyable as shared with friends.
I am heading out to work on the rudder of my sailboat that was damaged when I ran aground a few weeks ago. I’ll find joy in laughing about that little mis-adventure.

All an opportunity for joy.
Thank you.

Frank - Thank you for the post; a very good idea. I won’t use the ‘joy’ word, but I will say I am extremely thankful to drink the wine I drink, and to be able to enjoy it the way I do, and to share it, and that enjoyment (ok, joy!), with others. We are very lucky.

Cheers,
Theo

Talking about wine in an FMIII thread requires posting a tasting note. Tasting notes bring me joy.

My avatar brings me more joy than anything.

What a nice, beautiful post. As I posted a couple of days ago, to have a rose from Provence when the snows of November leave a white trace, that is joy indeed: White makes a very nice backdrop to pink!

Hot coffee on a cold morning.

Waking up this morning still thinking about the dinner w/my wife at a place called Bar Sajor last night, especially thinking about the salmon rillette & the bottle of Cos Pithos Rosso we drank. Finding the books the kids made for us w/the babysitter as presents.

Fifteen 1974 CA cabs last weekend,
And that my buddy is filling the cellar with Champagne

I have enjoyed reading the string of posts above this morning. Joy is all around, if you decide you want to recognize it. Hey Ed, no idea what the Zeppelin was, although it was just cool to have it playing. And Nordhoff, you’ve be the chief influencer and sponsor of the champagne joy, maybe I should ask you to ‘sponsor’ a portion of the expense. [basic-smile.gif]

Keep posting please. [dance-clap.gif]
