TN: Malvira Trinita Arneis '09...(short/boring)

Tried this last night after I got home from Calif late:

  1. Malvira Trinita DOCG: Roero Arneis (13%; L1; www.IndigenousSelections.com; www.Malvira.com; 90% SS/10% Fr.oak for 6 months) Canale 2009: Med.light gold color; very fragrant pineapple/mango/floral/carnations light stony/chalky quite perfumed almost R-like nose; bit soft slight tangy/metallic quite floral/carnations mango/pineapple very light stony/mineral/chalky almost R-like flavor; very long/lingering some chalky/stony rather pineapple/mango/carnations/floral bit soft finish; a lovely very perfumed Arneis. $21.00 (SFW&S)

A wee BloodyPulpit:

  1. The Trinita vnyd is named for the small church that crowns the hill in the middle of the vnyd. This wine shows the wonderful aromatics you can get from Arneis w/ that underlying stony character, almost like a Mosel Riesling. Thought this almost as good as the Idlewild Arneis.

Tom, when that wine was a bit fresher it was truly amazing…they are one of the great producers in Roero.

Agree with Roberto about both the particular wine (I like to drink Arneis young) and the producer. Malvira also makes a good Favorita (vermentino).

thank you

You should be drinking the 2013. Maybe the 2012. These wines are not meant to go long. A year or two can and will make a big difference.
