Sonoma: Food and Wine Affair 2015: Nov 7-8

My fiancee and i were considering a last minute trip out to sonoma next weekend (nov 7-8) and realized that it is the annual food and wine affair. Has anyone attended the “wine road”? It’s a decent list of wineries. (not the best, but I can pick out a few I would be interested in one day).

Would love to hear opinions or info!!

These weekends get very busy. Contact the wineries you want to visit in advance and ask what the best times to come are. I would bank on Friday. The big drunkfest groups troll on the weekend.

I believe the event is only Sat and Sun, and I was thinking I would only go on Sunday. Frankly, I’m having trouble finding more than maybe 3 wineries on this list that I would be interested in visiting. For $50, for all tastings and food for the day, it seems like a good deal still. Also just something “fun” and out of the normal wine tasting experience.

Anyone have suggestions from this list? I’ve bolded my initial thoughts.

Mietz for the Sodini Zin
Papapietro Perry nice Pinots

Mueller is worth a visit - tasting room is in Healdsburg.

Appreciate the recs!! keep em coming! anyone else planning to attend this?

This event is not really a “drunkfest” IMHO… much smaller crowds than some other caravan style events, and there is a focus on the food offerings…

(I think we are doing a Corn Chowder & Pinot Pairing on the Square)

Dashe - Zinfandel
Papapietro Perry - Pinot Noir
Kokomo - variety

all are in the same complex off of Dry Creek Road IIRC, so you can park and walk.

would also recommend Longboard Vineyards.

Stonestreet Winery for Cab and Chardonnay. Fritz for Pinot and Chardonnay.

I’ve done it before and it’s a lot of fun. Some wineries will be crazy ass, but most aren’t a problem. I usually go for the smaller, less known guys.

I don’t care much for their wines but Mazzocco always has great food.

Michael, I going to be up in Sonoma that weekend, bur not for the food and wine affair. Going to some of the open houses- Arnot-Roberts, Radio Coteau, ect…
