What's your favorite online retailer

from which you buy pre-arrivals? France, Germany, Italy?

jjbuckley for me – typically have excellent pricing and if you get on the mailing list of one of their wine specialists, you’ll get all sorts of special offers for limited things with great provenance.

Crush Wines, Chambers Street Wines, and Daniel Posner’s (Grapes in White Plains) email list

I would add Envoyer and Flickinger to those already mentioned.

These days, it depends who can ship to you.

JJB and Envoyer get most of my business.

Benchmark

Whichever one has the wines I want and will ship to me.

This.

Crush - but mostly because they will ship to me.

I buy more wine from K&L than anywhere else, though strictly for pre-arrivals, JJB is probably close. My true “favorite” retailers are Martin Steinley and Vintage Wine Merchants as the personal service is beyond what anyone else provides.

Hello,
Can anyone recommend one or more retailers who will ship promptly and reliably to the Philadelphia area? I am in CA and would like to send a gift of perhaps Champagne, Napa Cab and Burgundy to someone in PA. Thank you in advance.

Wine.com (best option for a one off gift, not best prices, but if it’s in stock in the NY warehouse it ships the next day)
Crush wine out of NYC (most esoteric selection, white glove style service)
Benchmark (best for secondary market wines)
First Bottle (best for oddities and one off deals)

You can also narrow results in Wine-Searcher to show just places that ship to PA, and it’s pretty accurate.

Mine is Cellar Raiders. Ben is very reliable.

JJ Buckley for me but I have been buying more and more local lately

Yep, Wine-Searcher, Fass, Envoyer, Lopa, and Down to Earth

I’ve used so many. There are several great ones on west coast like JJB and Envoyer but shipping from there there has been a pain. I buy locally a lot. But have found some east coast ones I like. Taxes and shipping from NY tend to be high but some like Chambers and Sokolin are quite good. I’ve found Down to Earth in DE, Wine Solutions in NC and Pluckys in NJ to be ones I’ve had recent favorable experiences with

My favorites are Wine Club, Bottle List, WHWC, Skyliner, Hi Time, No Limit. Good prices, no tax and reasonable shipping.

Second tier is Envoyer, Crush, Wine Cellarage, Zachy’s, Flatiron. I’ve almost stopped purchasing from these because of a combination of so-so pricing, sales tax and/or outrageous shipping. But occasionally they will have something special I don’t want to miss. Like a Jadot Musigny from Envoyer this week.

Envoyer, Lopa, and Robert Panzer.
