TN: 2015 Dirty and Rowdy - Mourvedre Old Vine Rosewood Vineyards (USA, CA, Redwood Valley)

2015 Dirty and Rowdy Mourvedre Old Vine Rosewood Vineyards - USA, California, North Coast, Redwood Valley (2/11/2017)
– vigorous 2.5 hour decant before initial taste –
– tasted non-blind on Day 1 and Day 3 –

NOSE: powdered sugar currants; hint of leather; baked cherry note on Day 3, too.

BODY: hazy ruby-violet color of medium-light to medium depth; medium-light bodied.

TASTE: very fine tannins present — very little grip, however; red fruited; chalk; high acidity; hint of savory mineral; 12.8% alc. not noticeable; very nice, and possibly my favorite D&R Mourvedre to date.

50, 5, 12, 17, 8 = (92 pts.)

Thanks for the note Brian! Haven’t tried any of the single Vineyards from 15 yet, so I appreciate the look at this one.

2015 Dirty and Rowdy Mourvèdre Old Vine Rosewood Vineyards - USA, California, North Coast, Redwood Valley (3/31/2021)
– decanted 1 hr. before initial taste –
– tasted non-blind over a couple hours –

NOSE: savory and red-fruited.

BODY: medium-light body. Garnet color of shallow depth with slight bricking throughout.

TASTE: clear; carbonic; medium+ to high acidity; red-fruited; deeply-embedded garrigue note; pine and light cinnamon; quite pleasant; atypically light for Mourvedre, and therefore typical of Dirty and Rowdy. Drink or Hold. Gut impression score: low 90s.
