Strange orange color. Premox

I have consumed several cases of this qpr Savennieres from vintage 1995 to 2010 and this is the third premoxed bottle.
When healthy this is a brilliant crisp wine

How does it taste? Personally, I like many Savennieres wines (like Nicolas Joly wines) when they have an oxidative quality.

But if it’s not the winemaker’s intention, and it tastes unpleasant then that’s not good.

It tastes like bad sherry
When sound it has a red/orange tone but this one is shut

Claus - I think the biggest problem is your glass. It doesn’t look very Riedel-like!!! [wow.gif]

How many cases have you had and what were the ages of the premox bottles? This says 2010 - do you typically keep them that long? Cork

In fact it IS Riedel. Used it only to show the color
Still have a few from 2003 and 2005. They do release library bottles from time to time

If you’ve drank several cases and had a few bad bottles, it sounds more like cork failure than premox.

I’m also not sure what the point of the thread is.

Sounds like oxidation

I had some '02 Moelleux from here that was beautiful up to a year or two ago. This wine looks severely oxidized, whatever the cause. Too bad.

Savennieres is usually capable of aging for decades - so 7 years is no age at all!
