78 Chave Hermitage vs. 74 Heitz Martha

Going to dinner tonight at RPM Steak. Which wine should I drink ?

NO question…BOTH! [wow.gif]

Neither, save them for my next trip to Chicago and I will share them with you [cheers.gif] Seriously, you have the definition of a “high class problem” on your hands tonight. Enjoy!

A well stored Martha’s is absolutely ready.

78 Chave was definitely ready 10 years ago. I’d drink it, I think the Martha’s may still have more life than the Chave.

A little late to the dinner party but the '74 Martha’s is one of the best Cabs I’ve ever had. Thanks to my little brother bringing it for my b.day

I’m a little late too, but what Buzzini said!

Regardless, what did you open and how was it?

whichever one you don’t drink, bring it down to st louis.

Drink the '78 Chave
Sell me the '74 Heitz ‘Marthas’!

Well,
I had the Martha´s only once and that was 24 years ago, but it was really memorable … (so no idea how it is performing today) …
but that was the Chave, too each time when I had it … fully mature but a relevation when the bottles is good …

(… definitely a luxury problem …)

I`m in the camp of drinking both. The Chave has to be ready and the Heitz Martha has been ready and giving for a long time. Go for the gold!

But these wine have nothing to do with each other.

They do if drunk on the same evening.

I’m not a drunk!
