Any grape - must be red. Under $30. What are people drinking?
I see the flaw in my post… which producers, vintages, etc? Trying to stock up.
Bedrock varietals, $20 perfect defenders
Chianti Classico and CC Riserva - Monsanto, Felsina, Castell’n Villa
Langhe Nebbiolo - Vietti Perbacco and Produttori
Produttori Barbaresco
Bordeaux - Lanessan, Puygueraud, Cambon La Pelouse, Senejac
Cotes du Rhone - Beaucastel, Clos du Mont Olivet
You can drink them young or age them.
Double edged sword. “cheap” but I never want to share with non-winos… (subject for another thread)
Domaine Joubert Beaujolais-Villages L’Ancien
Any number of FLX reds, including Ravines Pinot Noir and Cab Franc.
Domaine Du Cros Marcillac
Chateau Platon Bordeaux
If you can find it, La Selva Privo, a crowd-pleasing Sangiovese blend.
All under $20. Most, if not all, would probably age well if you don’t get around to drinking them.
Faugeres (e.g., Saint Antonin Lou Cazalet; also their Magnoux blend)
Cotes du Roussillon Villages (e.g., Saint Roch Chimeres)
Cotes du Rhone Villages (e.g., Domaine du Seminaire Valreas)
2016 Stolpman Para Maria
Stolpman Ballard Canyon Syrah
what type of wine do you usually drink?
Amelia Park Trellis (Cabernet blend)
Bonny Doon Clos De Gilroy
Bedrock North Coast
Montine CDR
Fair question - mostly cab and syrah (either US or French). Both “modern” and “traditional.” Some Italian, but cannot get behind Chianti. But pretty open to opening horizons at a cellar defender price point.
Raffault Chinon
Baudry Chinon
Chateau Lanessan
Chateau Cantemerle
Chateau Thivin Brouilly
Chateau Sociando Mallet (2014 futures sub-30)
Clos de la Roilette
Clape Vin des Amis
Gonon Iles Feray
Chave Mon Coeur
Domaine Guion
Cambon la Pelouse
Bedrock Old Vine Zin
Ridge Geyserville - Only recently over $30 for me ($32.99 for 2015)
Just some of them…
Great thread, since I drink a couple to a few glasses every night, affordable wines are necessary.
Brigaldara Valpolicella
Langhe Nebbiolo (Vajra or Produttori)
Roilette Fleurie
JP Brun/Vissoux any beaujolais cru
Lapierre Morgon
Desvignes Morgon ‘La Voute St Vincent’
Briceland Zin/Pinot
Vincent Pinot
Pecina Rioja Crianza
Muga Rioja Riserva
Baudry Chinon Grezeaux
Texier Cotes du Rhone

Some Friulian Sauvignon Blanc and Merlot, mid-teens $. Occasionally Chianti or Langhe Nebb. If anything, these days my regular cellar defender is beer/whiskey.
La Rioja Alta Vina Alberdi
Chateau La Vieille Cure
Produttori del Barbaresco Langhe Nebbiolo
Just bought a case of each.
Love me some pelaverga - Burlotto, Alessandria
They are brought into the US in small quantities so you have to be vigilant
Recent purchase of a case. Old and cheap, but tastes young and rich.
An old WineHunter never gives up.
