An extraordinary wine. Drunk at The French Laundry with reams of black truffles, a miraculous pairing, as one might expect. The color here is a full black cherry. No signs of aging out at the rim of the glass. The fill on the bottle was exceptional. And so were its contents. Bright and vibrant, with a bevy of dark fruit, floral, and spice notes, this was a wine of incredible texture. Balanced yet powerful, it drinks like a dream. It is complete, still showing back end structure, and goes on with an extraordinary finish. A total gem with no end in sight to its enjoyable life. A
