TN: NV Cruse Wine Company Tradition (USA, California, North Coast, Mendocino County)

Debut of the Cruse Tradition bottling. For fans of Michael Cruse’s Ultramarine (me!) this seemed like a no-brainer.

Light gold color, very fresh, tight bubbles that seem to dissipate rather quickly in the glass. First sip is wiry, tart apple and a very lean palate presence. For the brut nature crowd. With time, as it warms, it opens to show some honey and bread notes that help to round it out a bit. It’s lighter in style and right now lacks the depth of the UM wines. It is easy to drink, a nice spring/summer sipper if you like a leaner, natural style. I don’t know where this goes in time, didn’t really feel like there was much in reserve here. 85C/15PN.
