2017 Domaine Guiberteau Saumur Blanc Les Moulins - France, Loire Valley, Anjou-Saumur, Saumur (3/17/2019)
– popped and poured –
– tasted non-blind over 2.5 hours –
NOSE: lifted and “fresh” — some petrichor; light pear; freshly fermented-ing grapes; tangy; sea spray; hint of something funky/dank/sweatsocks; seemed complex, and a bit tight.
BODY: light maize color; medium-light bodied.
TASTE: salinic; lots of mineral; high acidity, but not screechy; acidic pear/grape combo; 13% alc. not noticeable; paired extremely well with scallops (in sauce of brown butter, caramelized onion, caramelized fennel bulb, hint of garlic, and a healthy splash of this wine); Drink or Hold.
