TN: 2006 Dom Pérignon Champagne (France, Champagne)

Took this to dinner at Staplehouse in ATL last night. Great dinner. Nice wine.

Amidst all the overly positive notes, there are several that note this is still showing very young and tight. I’m in the latter camp. I was surprised at how much this wasn’t giving. Having had the '08 and '09 recently, this was certainly less fleshy and giving right now. Cool and tart, lemon and some anise spice. Some hints of toast. The palate is bright and crisp, but still rather taught to my palate. Very long, almost chewy finish that permeates. It was very good, but I wanted more, if that makes sense.

nice and nice!!!
firmer vintage that the 08?

does it have density?

I had a glass of this last night at the Ritz in Chicago. It’s very good champagne but needs several years to come into its own. Glad I have a couple bottles at home.

Much firmer than '08. Not as fleshy. Less giving, in general.

Was pretty disappointed with the '06. When I was hunting for '08s at Costco, I found a random '06 in a sea of '09s. Thought about it, but passed.

Hoping your other bottles show better!
