TN: 2011 Zind-Humbrecht Riesling Clos Windsbuhl (France, Alsace)

  • 2011 Zind-Humbrecht Riesling Clos Windsbuhl - France, Alsace (7/7/2019)
Deep golden yellow colour. The nose was a bit shy at first due to the cold serving temperature. As it warmed up in the glas it revealed classical Riesling notes but the real stunner was the palate. The texture of this wine allowed you to experience its components one after the other which made for a pleasant experience. Mainly white flowers, citrus, honeysuckle wrapped in a blanket of acidity with a slightly mineral finish. On the second day I found a even more expressive nose but with a much less complex mid palate and a bitter undertone appearing in the finish. Great. (93 pts.)

Glad this showed so well for you, Peter. This sounds extra-complex, even for a Z-H. I have a bottle of 11 Deiss Altenbourg Riesling which I am guarding for a few years to let it develop further.

Slainte,

Mike
