Rudius 2011 Bedrock Vineyard Zin/Mourvedre blend

One of the pleasures of having a wine cellar is that sometimes you discover beauties that you didn’t realize you had. I was just saying the other day that I thought I had drank thru all of my “value” Zinfandel which was unfortunate … then I found this today. I don’t remember buying it or that it even existed. It was buried on a random shelf and it just happened to catch my eye today. What a pleasure to drink. From beginning to end. Maybe it’s the 8 years of age, maybe it’s the mourvèdre giving it a different dimension that I don’t typically find in a Zinfandel but this was nice. Very smooth, light on the pepper, great fruit but not too ripe. If any of you have this wine do yourself a favor and open one soon. You will be happy. I checked on wine searcher and unfortunately there isn’t any available otherwise I would have bought some. I do, thankfully, have 1 more bottle!

Thanks for the tasting note!!!
