TNs: Hubert Lignier, Gerard Raphet

2009 Hubert Lignier Morey-Saint-Denis
I bought a mixed parcel of Hubert Lignier when the local importer cleared out some bin ends. This is seriously good villages Burg, and really not far off prime time, showing decadent black fruits, savoury imflections, good density and a balanced elongated finish. Everything that I look for in a Burgundy at this level.
2013 Gerard Raphet Bourgogne Rouge (375ml)
From the same importer’s bin end clearance. Quite pretty, nicely evolved, quite sweet fruited and generous for a Bourgogne level. Has a slightly rustic finish, but again a wine that is now drinking well and is quite satisfying. I just feel that there is some chippy oak on the back end of the palate, but it’s only a slight distraction from the over all package.

Hubert Lignier’s MSD is very smart.

good snag.
