TN: 15 Domaine du Vieil Orme 'Inphine' [Touraine Chenonceaux]

15 Domaine du Vieil Orme ‘Inphine’ [Touraine Chenonceaux] This is a K&L direct import. 12.5% abv. All SB, but it avoids the cat pee notes that can sometimes happen with this varietal. For my tastes it is more flavorful and interesting than comparable NZSB’s that I’ve tried. Its zesty with lime and quince flavors. Light crisp body. I know it sounds trite - but I kept thinking ‘what a pure wine’. It went very well with a roast butternut squash & apple risotto with sausage crumbles. Critics don’t seem to rave over it, but I’d get it again. A- for my simple, non overly geeky Loire tastes.

Thanks, Arv - never heard of it, I’ll look out for some. BTW, on the basis of the two entry-level wines tasted so far, 2018 looks like a very good vintage for Muscadet.

Domaine Baron Touraine Chenonceaux 2018 : 15/20 - 7/12/2021
Un domaine découvert hier soir. Original car en pur côt (malbec). Mûr, animal, joliment rustique mais net et agréable à boire. Pris pour la folle noire d’Ambat (négrette du domaine Le Roc à Fronton).
