Georg Breuer - double vertical tasting Schlossberg and Nonnenberg 1996-2008

For lovers of great dry Riesling
Last Friday I had the rare opportunity to attend a tasting of a double vertical of two of the best dry German Rieslings: Georg Breuer Berg Schlossberg and Rauenthaler Nonnenberg (monopole) from 1996-2008.

Vintages 1997, 2004, 2007 and 2008 are for sure amongst the finest dry Riesling ever produced in Germany! And the other vintages are also playing in the Champions league.
If you own some of these bottles: Give them air and time. All wines were double decanted at lunch time and e.g. 1997 could needed even more air when drunk at 10pm.

You can find some more impressions from myself and my valued wine friend Alper on CellarTracker:

The tasting took place right at the winery and the next morning we had the chance to visit the foggy Schlossberg with the wonderful Theresa Breuer herself:

How wonderful! Breuer Schlossberg is one of the most distinctive dry Rieslings I have had, and s great one. I’ve been very impressed by the ‘97 several times. I wish I still had some.

Wow, that’s an incredible event. Breuer wines are outstanding. Sadly very hard to find in New York, very limited quantities.

Thanks a lot Dirk. I agree. Very impressive wines.
Not only among the best German Rieslings but among the very best white wines on this planet.
I am especially fond of the Breuer 2008’s
