TN: 2016 Produttori del Barbaresco Barbaresco

2016 Produttori del Barbaresco Barbaresco

After the first sip you immediately know this is a magnificent wine and magnificent vintage. Its this BALANCE, peace of mind, structure and depth. In addition despite its youth you already have a remarkable elegance.

Of course I know our wine cellars are full, of course I know that there are many many good wines on the market right now. Anyway…BUY

this is gonna be a good release overall from produttori when it rolls around… 2016 normale and 2015 riserva… planning to grab a bunch of both.

As I mentioned elsewhere, I had this blind the other day and thought it outstanding.

A consensus is emerging . . . . TN: Eight 2016 Barbarescos tasted blind - WINE TALK - WineBerserkers

Just opened my fifth bottle leaving me 13. I just went back for six more. I thought this was closing but when served at the right temperature, this is quite amazing.

Such a pretty wine; balanced and fragrant. Love the electric cranberry-ruby color. Forthcoming classic fruit with poise and grace. Deftly balanced. Love the silkiness this brings. Cool red fruits. Probably the best Normale I have ever sampled. Just…bought…more—again (93 pts.)

dear board members,

an essential purchase.

agreed. Especially when its $35-$45

Good notes, keep 'em coming. Still waiting on my bottles and a few mags, too. Happy 'bout that.

Just bought a bunch at 35 from wine library…probably open one as soon as they arrive to see if I should go back for more

No harm in opening, and day 2 it’s even better.

IMNHO, this is the best regular bottling release I’ve had in my life time. Absolutely stunning wine.

Disclaimer- Of course I sell it, doesn’t every good store though???

Such enablers

I assume this needs a decant? If so, how long?

If Produttori is being shipped to Flyover Country, then I ain’t seeing it on Free Wine Searcher:

https://www.wine-searcher.com/find/produttori+docg+barbaresco+piemonte+italy/2016/usa

All I’m seeing is CT, NY, NJ, DC, FL, IL, CA, and OR.

That might be an artifact of how Free Wine-Searcher censors results, but it’s not encouraging.

If you narrow it down to single-state listings, then GA, VA, MO and TX each have a single listing at $45:

https://www.wine-searcher.com/find/produttori+docg+barbaresco+piemonte+italy/2016/usa-ga
https://www.wine-searcher.com/find/produttori+docg+barbaresco+piemonte+italy/2016/usa-va
https://www.wine-searcher.com/find/produttori+docg+barbaresco+piemonte+italy/2016/usa-mo
https://www.wine-searcher.com/find/produttori+docg+barbaresco+piemonte+italy/2016/usa-tx

Three hits in WA:

https://www.wine-searcher.com/find/produttori+docg+barbaresco+piemonte+italy/2016/usa-wa

But nothing in NC, SC, IN, OH, PA, MN, WI, MI, CO, AZ, etc.

Good to do but not necessary. I am using my Coravin right into a small decanter and right into glass.

P.S. Best on Day 2

I don´t decant, as I drink wines over 2-3 days.

P.S. P.S. good to see that my impressions are confirmed. I also have to to order again. haha

I’ve seen it on the shelves here in Minneapolis for about $45. Meanwhile I just had the 2016 Produttori Langhe Nebbiolo which I thought was outstanding.

PA state store is still selling the 2015 and 13 & 14 Riservas

Yep - they’ve been on the shelves in the well-heated stores, sometimes in direct sun, in the sun since they hit the market.

Not suggesting to buy, just stating that’s whats available in PA. Prices are less than appealing anyway.
