Need the German Riesling experts to help me here. I bought this on release and don’t remember the details. It’s a gold capsule auction spatlese with no vineyard designation on the label but on the auction sticker it says Kloster Eberbach. Is this a single vineyard wine therefore? Why would the Kloster Eberbach vineyard name not be on the label?
David, the producer of this Riesling Spätlese is Schloss Vollrads and the wine was sold at auction by Kloster Eberbach in 2002. Schloss Vollrads is a monopole site and hence no vineyard designation on the label.
Historically one of the premier German Vineyards. It and a few others do not need to put the village name on the label.
