TN: 2015 Château Talbot Caillou Blanc

This was a neat little discovery for me while I was traveling around NYE. I wish I had bought more than one bottle.

A deep golden hue in the glass, this has a rich nose full of dried pineapple, candied ginger, and sea spray. The palate is rich, full bodied, and leads with intense flavors of ripe pear, honeydew melon, honeycomb, and pineapple. The winery’s website notes that this is a blend of 78% Sauvignon Blanc and 22% Semillon. To me the Semillon is more dominant and the richness of this really stands out, in a positive way. This is one of those wines I bought on a whim to try, and will have to head back to find more when I can. Outstanding!!

Who woulda thunk! Love this chateau, had no clue they made a white.

If you like rich, full-bodied whites that have some balance…this could be worth seeking out. For the $32 I paid, I’d definitely buy again.
