2017 Idlewild Cortese Fox Hill Vineyard: It’s always fun (at least for me) pairing wine with food. Looking for that special pairing can bring some disappointments but every so often you nail one. Like last night
The wine is 75% direct press and 25% fermented on the skins for several weeks. Stone fruit, spicy apple, orange oil and honeysuckle are the aromas and flavors of this wine. Very fresh, lively, great acidity and a bit of tannin grip from the 25% that is skin fermented.
Went perfectly with the outstanding Seafood Risotto. The briny, tangy seafood matched with the savory flavors and texture of the Cortese really well. 12.5% ABV for the wine and a big yum for the combo!
