A wee BloodyPulpit:

  1. Three of these wines I found at RyanSciara’s UnderDog Wine in KansasCity last weekend in his “natural” section. I’d heard there were some experiments w/ skin-contact whites in Germany, but this was the first one I’d tried. It was not altogether unpleasurable and the kind of wine that stretches your mind; which is oftentimes worth doing.

This is the first time I’ve seen “natty” as an adjective in your wine notes, Tom – care to give a definition?

Sure, Larry. But not a precise definition that would meet your standards of excellence.
“Natty” is like “phenolic”…comes from “natural”…it describes a certain identifiable funky character, a bit unclean, a bit mousey, character that
I sometimes (not always) get in “natural” wines. It’s not an original term from me, but one that is often used in the “natural” wine community.
I’ve been using it for over a yr now.
