TN: 2016 Yves Cuilleron Les Pierres Sèches

A pleasant, “workmanlike” Northern Rhône Syrah; not particularly complex, but lots of fresh blue and dark red fruits with a dash of pepper, dusty earth, iron, and a nice, moderate acidic lift. There’s a bit of tannic grip to remind you where it’s from, but it’s linear and focused so relatively light on its feet - a nice food wine (went quite well with burgers).

For ~$30, you could do worse!

EDIT: you could also theoretically do better rather than having a sideways photo but these are, after all, uncertain times
