Tonight with a slow cooked shoulder of lamb, I opened a Gruaud Larose 1990. It seems to be a combination of barely ripe and slightly overripe grapes, a mingling of plum and mint. Big boned and slightly rustic but overall very good. The lamb was incredible, a French import from D’Artagnan.
I always liked this wine (indeed GL is one of the very few Bordeaux i still like). Thanks for the note. I still have a half bottle.
I owned a case of this but the overripe aspect was too much for me so I sold the rest of my bottles.
I can’t remember this at all but last year it seems I liked it.

1990 Château Gruaud Larose - France, Bordeaux, Médoc, St. Julien (8/3/2019)
Very nice St. Julien. Mildly funky, and many herbal, mineral and leather notes. Excellent.
This wine was double decanted in the morning, then reopened in the evening about 2 hours before consuming. (92 pts.)
