2017 JB Neufeld Cabernet Sauvignon- USA, Washington, Columbia Valley, Yakima Valley (4/4/2020)
Really deep dark purple, almost petite sirah hue.
Nose is strong blueberry, herbs, and Chambord. The palate is classic Cabernet, it’s cassis and very fine gritty tannins at this young age. No blue fruit here. After an hour it relaxed a bit but still wound up in the middle. Acid is medium plus to high, will age no question. Herb note hinted at a Cabernet franc. Really graceful.
Love the note. Funny, as I’m not that old, but I grew up in a world where an herbal note was a hallmark of Cabernet Sauvignon. Will have to see about getting some wine from Justin.
