TNs; 2014 De Montille CC, 90 Calon Segur

The cellar is getting a bit of a thrashing at the moment. A cold and blustery day, so roasted a sirloin for the family. The white disappeared during the preparation stage.

2014 Domaine de Montille Corton-Charlemagne
This is in a good place, the firmer edges of youth planed off, the fruit showing richness and viscosity. It is now nicely integrated, textural and nuanced.

1990 Chateau Calon-Segur
This bottle was quite mature, with more than a hint of leafy Cabernet fruit, more pyrazines than I was anticipating from a warmer vintage. Nevertheless it is a bit old school with good freshness and is quite lithe. Really no need to keep any longer, a lovely old school luncheon claret.

Kent, that’s a nice note on the de Montille CC. It’s one of the better values in grand cru white Burgundy, particularly under diam.

Yes it is Alex, actually went back and bought another 6 pack as it is still within reach. Similar price to the Bouchard CC in our market, but the Bouchard is more difficult to get hold of. I did score some '17 PYCM CC but its price has now edged up quite bit. BdM is too much of a crapshoot to consider.
