2010 La Chapelle de Calon - amazing

REALLY impressive. Took a gamble at auction with a case, as this is not a wine that is readily available in the U.S. so not very many notes on it. This is Calon Segur’s third wine, now named Saint-Estephe de Calon Segur.

In a PERFECT space for my taste right now - firmly in its secondary phase, it opens with the weightiest and silkiest mouthfeel I can recall, but without any syrup, still light and bright, pops with nice fresh red fruit, good acidity keeps it lively in your mouth. Enough of the typical Bordeaux notes of graphite and saddle leather, tons of red cherry, nose has a huge dose of licorice that I love, as well, but overall this wine really stands out as perfectly integrated.

$25 all in makes this an INCREDIBLE value for me

Cool. Didn’t even know they had a third label!
