TN: 2004 Peay Pinot Noir, Sonoma Coast

My fear that I had hung on too long disappeared the moment I took a first sniff. A vibrant and eager nose filled with sweet cherry, mulling spice, and a hint of cranberry. Beautiful spice notes carry through on the palate, which has sharp acidity and fine tannins, leading to a wonderfully complex finish. Very well done Andy (and team)! (and check out the condition of that cork! Dayum!)

Cool to see this. No 2004 Pinot left in my cellar, but I do have some of each of the 2004 Syrahs (and one or two 2003). BTW, Peay has been doing a zoom tasting every week, check out their web site for more info.

I bet those Syrahs would be nice. They age really well in my experience.

My last 2003 Syrah was showing it’s age a bit more than I expected, but 2004 has a lot of years left in it.

Yes, really enjoy their wines–I think '04 Scallop Shelf may have been my first off the list at Passionfish. Great wine and great place–wonder how they are doing under the current circumstances.
