TN: 2009 H. Boillot Puligny Pucelles

A slight pleasing herbal note echoes across the nose and palate. Fruit is subtle and in the background with the structure in the foreground, but there’s a nice interplay of balance between the two. No hint of premox, it’s as it should be. Very pretty wine, even elegant.

Thanks Alan.

I reckon '09 whites are and have been in a very nice spot over the past couple of years.

Boillot gets a bad rap for premox (rightfully so)but it’s still a buy for me most years.

came back to the wine a couple hours later and it has tightened up, become more floral and expressive, herbal notes diminished. Nice bottle.

All things equal, do you prefer Boillot or Leflaive Pucelles?

Had some '09 Boillots recently with equally good results (Genevrieres and Criots) - quite a successful vintage I think in the end. Kris, my vote would go to the Leflaive, especially with the Pucelles not even the best 1er cru in the Boillot stable!

no Leflaive experience past decade due to prices and premox.

In general (white Burg) or just this producer?

In general Todd.
