TN: 1955 Chateau Augey, Sauterenes

A reconditioned bottle and an absolute beauty at that. The nose offers up some toast, apricot, honey and vanilla. There’s still good sweetness in the mouth, with luscious fruits a plenty. It is rich and full, filling every crevice of the mouth with flavour then finishing bright and clean.

I don’t know anything about this producer, can you fill in some blanks?

I’m with you Kris. All I know is that it was bloody good!

Awesome, love when an unknown wine over-performs! My mom’s birthyear so always on the lookout for good (and ideally affordable) 55’s.

There were some wonderful '55s - I had a Chateau Gilette from that fantastic vintage - heavenly!

Augey was a long time negociant firm - still selling red and white generic wines in the United States today - wonder if they are related?
