2005 Flying Goat Rancho Santa Rosa

Gorgeous, nicely aged, Santa Rita Hills Pinot hitting on all cylinders now. Dark minerals plus iron in the nose, tart and deep cherry fruit now on your palate without hitting the sweet parts of your tongue. Real length with a nice mix of red & blue fruit.

Wish I had more but this case is gone now. Sweet #12.

Couldn’t agree more! I’ve never seen Flying Goat mentioned on this site but they make a number of excellent wines including sparkling.

Norm Yost doesn’t get a lot of love around here but he makes some lovely wines up there on BienNacido property.
Tom

I met Norm at a wine event in San Diego. He also does a sparkling project and helps out some young winemakers. He has/had a tasting room in the Lompoc Ghetto.

Norm has been making consistently good wines for a long time - and he indeed has helped many getting started in our area. He is the ‘OG’ of handmade sparkling wines here in SBC, and many have been tutored by him and followed his lead. Good to see him getting some love around here.

Cheers.

Been to the tasting room in the ghetto and enjoyed the wines across the lineup.

somehow I missed tasting the goat bubbles…
